St. Eulalia Pastor Carmelo Mendez roams the halls of the newly-inaugurated Quinn Community Center during an open-house in Maywood. Mendez took the initiative to reopen one of his church's underutilized buildings, formerly the parish school, now renamed for former St. Eulalia Pastor William Quinn and open as a vital component to Carmelo's surrounding community. Quinn made a lasting history for himself as a pioneer for social justice, both in the fields of civil rights, along with those of immigrants in the U.S. He died in 2004.
