Father John Canary (center) and St. Eulalia Pastor Carmelo Mendez (L) chat with Gabriel Lara in the newly-inaugurated Quinn Community Center in Maywood. The project to reopen the church's former parish school into a vibrant neighborhood building has been an initiative of Mendez, naming the center for former St. Eulalia Pastor William Quinn. Quinn made a lasting history for himself as a pioneer for social justice, both in the fields of civil rights, along with those of immigrants in the U.S. He died in 2004.
