Info

Chicago History Museum Curator of Costumes Timothy Long oversees a collection of around 50,000 items dating as far back as the mid to late 1700's, the world's second-largest collection of it's type. The clothing reflects countless legendary Chicago celebrities and political leaders, but also tells stories of culture and design history through personal items unearthed from family closets and donated to the collection. Long says that the time interacting with the clothing is short in comparison to the research needed to confirm it's authenticity and historical value.
